Elderberry (Sambucus nigra subsp.Canadensis)

Origin:
 Natively these are considered from Europe and also present in America after adoption .

Morphology /Structure
The scar at the tip/edge of each berry marks the spot where you can see the petals had been growing on the flower.
 Benefits

  •  These berries have few calories but lots of nutrition.
  •  They provide large amounts of potassium and beta-carotene, sugar, fruit acids, calcium, vitamin C and phosphorous.
  • To control the cholesterol level.
  • As these are diuretic and detoxifying , these berries can be used to loss weight of the body.
  •  The flower of such berries can be used in skin diseases.
  • If we look at the elderberry bush it evokes a flood of amazing associations and images of the pastóEuropean ladies which dousing their white skin with elderberry flower water.
  • Distilled elder berry flower water also softens and restores the skin after the inflammation of skin.
  • Elder flower can be used to clean the skin, reduce freckles, and resist against sunburn.
  • Its bioflavinoids improves the circulation and making strong capillaries.
  • It is also wounds healing herbal remedy.
  • In cooking it is also used.
  • It can be  used in arthritis.
  • It can be used to make black hair dye after boiling them in vinegar.

Elderberry Fruit Cluster
Each cluster has many tine, globular, black berries. Collect the berries like the flowers. This is rapid way.   Pulling small bunches of berries from their stems, and keeping the fruit from the debris on a tray.

You also have to know that : 

  • Please avoid yourself  to unripe such that when there are not fully prepared like when these are in greenish color such greenish elder berries can get you sick also even raw ripe elderberries can cause nauseous.

  •  They become the central ingredient whenever you use them in baked goods. 
  •  Elderberries are not so sweet by taste and contain no thickeners  so keep it mind when you want to make some sweet dish.
  • In some books they recommended also leaves , roots or bark but some of them not recommended, accordinf to them  these contins glycoside and alkaloid that may change in to some toxicity. 
  • So there such property can be used as dried leaves  in gardens which works as insecticide medicine against different insects.
